We love kitties. Two years ago, we adopted an abandoned calico kitty who had been put out in the ice to fend for herself. Unfortunately, she hadn't been spayed, and came with some feral offspring. Other cats joined the fun when word got around that Annie was leaving cat food out for the kitties. While we were making progress in catching and altering the feral kitties, they always manage to stay just one litter ahead of us.
Now, if I had it my way, I'd keep every single one of the kitties who have come to depend on us for their well being. Unfortunatley, as the numbers grow, so does the pet food bill. It's time to share the wealth.
On this page, you'll find cats of all ages, most tame and very loving, some feral which could be relocated to a nice cozy barn for rodent control. Trust me, since the cats moved in, we have zero mice.
Stay and browse a while, and if you see someone who captures your heart, just drop me a line and we'll arrange an adoption.
FEEDING YOUR NEW KITTY
Your Vet may recommend Science Diet, but your vet is most likely compensated in some form for promoting the food. Iams looks like a high quality food package sitting on a discount store shelf. Think again.
These foods, and most other mass market cat foods, are full of "by products" (floor sweepings) and a host of other "nutrients" that can cause allergic reactions, intestinal distress, weight gain, and are nutritionally defunct.
Like most others, I thought Science Diet was the primo cat food, and I was paying a primo price for it at Pets Mart. That was until I Googled "cat food reviews" and came across this site: http://www.consumersearch.com/www/family/cat-food/
You don't know how surprised I was to find NO Science Diet on the list. After more research, I figured out that Science Diet is not much more than pet junk food in a Godiva label.
I'd tried Nutro dry on previous occasions, but my cats threw up all over the house. I mentioned this to a pet store employee who explained that Nutro was a very rich food, and the transition period from Science Diet to Nutro should be very slow, otherwise their digestive system can't take going from filler to quality food. I followed her directions, and this time the kitties made the transition from Science Diet to Nutro without a single hiccup. http://www.nutroproducts.com/mc-compare.shtml
I don't intend to sound like a Nutro commercial. There are other brands of cat food that I'd prefer to use but are not readily available or are so costly that I couldn't feed my kids after I fed the 20 cats.
I highly recommend that you research what food you are feeding your cat, and consider switching from junk food to quality food for the sake of your cat's health.
I'm a Wife, Mom, Gran, programmer, student, teacher, craftsman, handyman, musician, gardener, and keeper of the pets. I dabble in a little bit of everything but don't do anything very well. I live a very blessed life for which I'm extremely thankful.
